Compression shorts are a tight-fitting base layer made of stretchy, breathable material that provides several benefits to players.

Compression shorts are recommended for several reasons.

  1.  They keep the body generally compressed and slightly warmer which helps reduce injuries to the muscles and joints. 
  2. They cut down on excessive muscle vibration when running and tackling.  This helps slow player fatigue. 
  3. They reduce friction and chafing between the legs and thighs. 
  4. They help shorts slide up and down the thigh more smoothly while running, which prevents legs from getting hung up on the shorts.  This is particularly helpful for players who have large legs.
